Ambassador Announcement

May 27, 2024

Burrun Dalai Aboriginal Corporation and Muloobinba Aboriginal Corporation Proudly join with Aboriginal Champion Boxer! We're overjoyed to share that we're partnering with a remarkable Aboriginal female boxer, Shanell Dargan, as an ambassador. Shanell recently claimed the Australian title and her first win of the year! Her journey, marked by personal struggles, stands as a testament to resilience, discipline, and unwavering determination.

Both our organisations are deeply honoured to stand by and collaborate with such an extraordinary individual and have her as an ambassador!

Shanell Dargan's path to becoming an Australian boxing champion is truly remarkable. Growing up amidst significant hardships, including her journey with incarcerated parents and the weight of her guardian's history as a Stolen Generation survivor, Dargan battled her own demons, including domestic violence, before discovering solace and inner strength within the boxing ring.

Dargan's journey echoes the stories of many families we encounter in our roles as family support organisations. Like Dargan did, these families navigate complex issues such as domestic violence and casework involvement. Dargan's rise to become an Australian boxing champion serves as a powerful reminder of the strength and potential inherent within each individual, despite the obstacles they may face. On top of that, Dargan's journey mirrors the struggles and triumphs of countless Indigenous Australians who've overcome adversity to chase their dreams. Through her success, she aims to inspire Aboriginal children and young people facing similar challenges, encouraging them to believe in their own potential for greatness.

We are honoured to announce her as an Ambassador and we look forward to sharing more of her journey as she aims to become the world’s first Aboriginal female World Champion!
